Divorce has become a notable social trend around the world. While marriage remains common globally, an increasing share of married adults report ending their unions. According to United Nations data, the proportion of adults (ages 35–39) who are divorced or separated has roughly doubled since the 1970s. Yet divorce rates vary dramatically by country. In
